The Safe Driving Aptitude Certificate (CACES) is one example of training among many to validate the theoretical knowledge and practical know-how of a driver for the safe driving of a specific category of machinery.
Recommendation of the National Health Insurance Fund, CACES is NOT MANDATORY. Its non-use does not expose the entrepreneur to a direct sanction. The latter can also provide training in the safe operation of the machines covered by the CACES by giving the driver another training course.. Only the labor inspectorate can consider that training in safe driving does not comply with the provisions of the Labor Code.
In contrast, in accordance with the articles of the Labor Code (Art.4323-55, 56,57 and 58), the driving license is a mandatory title to drive certain equipment. It is drawn up and delivered to the driver by the head of the establishment on the basis of a theoretical and practical assessment proving that the driver has the aptitude and the capacity to safely drive the equipment for which the authorization is envisaged.. Pension and occupational health funds (CARSAT) may pronounce an increase in the employer's contributions for accidents at work of up to 200 % of the initial contribution, even in the absence of a work accident.
